Yes. I’m kicking up a bunch of dust and changing a bunch of things around here! All for the better, to bring me into alignment with where I’m at broadly in life and consolidate all… or at least a bunch of loose threads. Now and again, time comes in one’s life to take stock of everything and do some pruning and cleaning, mending and tidying.
Why the change from Mythic Librarian to Phix’s Curiosity? Believe it or not, this project started out as Phix’s Curiosity almost a year before Mythic Librarian crystalized some ideas in my head. But the fact of the matter is - while I do have an MLIS (Masters in Library and Information Science), I don’t work in a library, though I use library and information sciences, content management, philosophy every day for work… I am a librarian by identification, but I’m not actually a librarian. I have many interest overlaps, but I don’t want to come across as speaking as if I were a librarian-who-works-in-a-library - that’s a group of lovely individuals that I cannot speak for.
Phix’s Curiosity - I’m a curious cat! As my tag line says, “You can take the girl out of the library, but you can’t take the neurotic, compulsively curious librarian out of the girl” (Molly Harper). Phix is how sphinx would have been pronounced in the region where the Greek tale of the riddling sphinx existed. Besides Phix, other mythological entities I’m particularly interested in right now are Kirkê, Ariadne, Arachne, and Medusa. If you read any of the Mythic Librarian newsletters, some (but maybe not all) of those names might look familiar to you.
So welcome home. <3
